WINTER BREAK MESSAGE – 2023
As 2023 fades into the past and 2024 is on the horizon, holiday greetings fill the air -- “Merry Christmas,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Happy Hanukkah,” “Joyous Kwanzaa,” and the ever popular “Happy Holidays.”
This is a time of celebration and gift-giving, when we make time for friends and family and allow ourselves to feel the warmth of happiness and sharing. One author suggested giving, “To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.”
As educators, we can look back at the past year and see that every day we have given the greatest gift of all – education. The gift of knowledge opens up endless pathways for our children. Students discover new interests, find avenues they had never considered, and dream dreams that will one day open doors of opportunity for others. Each day they learn from our example, so let us give them the very best of ourselves so that they can take that with them into the future to inspire others.
Let us remember that just as our students learn from us, we also learn from them – patience, kindness, sharing, tolerance. Let us treat our students, our friends and family, and ourselves with kindness, and spread the holidays all through the year.
Take advantage of this Winter Break to recharge. Enjoy this time with your friends and family and come back in 2024 ready to continue sharing the priceless gift of knowledge.
Happy Holidays,

Darren Knowles Superintendent
