A Message from the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources

Welcome to Human Resources!

The Pomona Unified School District is one of the largest employers in Pomona with more than 4,000 employees to support our 41 schools and over 25,000 students. 

We are very proud that over 1,200 of our teachers are rated as “highly qualified” according to the federal NCLB guidelines.  Our teachers are dedicated professionals who are widely recognized for their commitment to excellence. 

Among many honors and accolades, our teachers have won awards from Imagine Learning which focuses on literacy programs for English Learners, to mentoring awards from the California Mathematics Council.  They have been honored by such far-ranging organizations as the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association for excellence in leadership, and by the State Network of Education’s Digital Library.

Our staff have presented at state and national conferences and written articles for prestigious educational journals.  The commitment and dedication of our teachers and administrators is exemplified in the classroom.  Our students have been recognized in national art competitions.  They have competed in oratorical contests, and have won science competitions, as well as scholarships to the nation’s outstanding universities. 

Pomona is committed to continuing to develop its staff and to offering competitive compensation and benefits through collaborative negotiations based on mutual respect. Our teachers and staff were severely impacted by the layoffs and budget cuts over the past few years, but now we look forward to rebuilding as we gradually bring back our programs.

We offer year-round professional development programs to our teachers and support them as instructional leaders and decision-makers.  Some programs are offered through our district partners, such as Cal Poly, while others are provided within the district and throughout the year.

Our district understands that our future leaders will likely spring from the current generation of teachers and support staff.  We are fortunate to have such outstanding and dedicated people supporting our district, our families, and our students.
