What Happens in a Transitional Kindergarten Classroom?
At Pomona Unified School District, our Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program provides young learners with a strong, supportive start to their educational journey. Our dedicated TK teachers create nurturing classroom environments where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.
Through purposeful play, hands-on exploration, and collaborative activities, students develop essential social and emotional skills. They learn how to communicate effectively, work with peers, solve problems, and build the confidence needed to thrive in a school setting.
PUSD TK educators also introduce early literacy and math concepts in fun, interactive ways. Using storytelling, music, movement, and educational games, teachers help children explore letters, sounds, words, and simple sentences. In math, students engage with numbers, counting, patterns, and manipulatives to build a strong foundation for future learning.
At Pomona Unified, our TK program is designed to inspire curiosity, spark creativity, and prepare students for success in kindergarten and beyond. We are committed to providing every child with the skills and support they need to grow, learn, and shine.
