Mr. Arturo Jimenez was elected to the Pomona Unified School District Board of Education to represent Trustee Area 3 in 2020. He was re-elected to the Board with 72% voter approval in 2024. His colleagues elected him to serve as Board President for 2023–2024.
Mr. Jimenez is a longtime community leader and activist. He has served the City of Pomona for over 25 years as a City Commissioner. His service includes two years on the Charter Review Commission, nine years as a Planning Commissioner, and fourteen years as a Community Life Commissioner. He has been honored with two Pomona Goddess Awards, the City’s highest recognition for citizen service. He currently serves on the Pomona Library Foundation, where he is in his tenth year as a member. In addition, he is a lifelong member of the Pomona Historical Society and a past President of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He also served as President of Padres Contra el Cáncer, an organization that supports families of children with cancer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
As a professional, Mr. Jimenez is the President and CEO of Laguna Technical College, a private postsecondary institution founded in 2002. The mission of Laguna Technical College is to provide career technical education programs that aid Pomona Valley residents. Since its founding, the college has helped thousands of students find pathways into private industry. Mr. Jimenez brings over 30 years of experience in the career technical education field.
Boardmember Jimenez has been married to elementary school teacher Monica Medina-Jimenez for over 26 years. They are the proud parents of four children, all of whom are PUSD graduates. Their son Christian is a recent graduate of Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Molecular Biology. Their daughter Kairi is an Architecture and Environmental Design major at Cal Poly Pomona. Their son Diego is a Manufacturing Engineering major at Cal Poly Pomona, and their youngest, Betty, is a Molecular Biology major at Cal Poly Pomona.
Mr. Jimenez has lived in Pomona for over 48 years and proudly calls it home. He credits Pomona and its people with shaping the person he is today. Deeply grateful to this community, he remains committed to giving back in every way he can.
