Workability/WE CAN WORK

In Pomona Unified School District, students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) who are 16 years of age or older may participate in the WorkAbility I program, a paid employment opportunity that helps prepare them for success in the workforce.

Established by the California Department of Education (CDE) in 1981, the WorkAbility I (WA1) program was designed to provide work experience for youth with disabilities ages 16 to 22. In collaboration with the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR), the CDE provides grants to school districts to offer paid employment opportunities and work-based learning experiences for students with disabilities through the WorkAbility and We Can Work programs.
