Trustee Area 5 Schools
Patricia Tye
Board Member, Area 5
Pomona Unified School District
Boardmember Patricia Tye was elected to the Pomona Unified School District Board of Education to represent Trustee Area 5 in 2022. She is honored to serve as Board President for the 2024–2025 school year.
Mrs. Tye began her journey with PUSD as a dedicated parent volunteer, serving as a Room Mom at Golden Springs Elementary School and later as an active member of the PTA at both Golden Springs and Lorbeer Middle School. Inspired by her involvement in her children’s education, she pursued a career in teaching. She attended Mount San Antonio College before earning her B.A. in Liberal Studies and M.A. in Special Education from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
In 2003, Mrs. Tye joined the Pomona Unified School District as a Special Education Teacher. She taught at Diamond Ranch High School for seven years before serving as a Teacher on Special Assignment and later as an Assistant Principal for five years, culminating in her retirement.
A lifelong resident dedicated to her community, Mrs. Tye has lived in the City of Diamond Bar since 1982 with her husband and high school sweetheart, Diamond Bar Councilmember Steve Tye. Together, they are the proud parents of three children—Kelly, Matthew, and Jeffrey—and the delighted grandparents of Brooklyn, Carter, and their newest grandchild, Olivia.
