Office of the Superintendent
Welcome to the start of the 2018-19 school year.
It is said that “Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of communication and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” Just as you as parents champion your children, in our schools our teachers and staff care deeply for the children entrusted to our care. When a child comes to us, we take care to know them, to support them, and to make everyone feel like “somebody” – because they are.
Along with reading, mathematics, and science, we help our students discover that learning can be fun. We take the time to connect with each of our students. Of the four cornerstones in PUSD – “Respect, Responsibility, Relationships, and Results” – it is often “Relationships” which have the most long term impact in shaping a child’s future.
Each child has his or her own special strengths. Let us work with you, their parents to support them, nurture the best that is in each of them, and help them develop into the best that each of them can be. If we do this, we will have fulfilled the best that is within us as well.
Please help us make this a school year to remember, whether by volunteering in our schools, joining your PTA/PTO, or serving on a school committee to add your voice to our school policies. Parents are a child’s first and most important teachers, and we depend on you to help us build each student’s strengths.
By working together, we can make this a year where every child will find pleasure in learning, friends to hang out with, classes that help them grow, and teachers who will always have a ready smile. With your help, we will make 2018-19 a memorable and successful school year.
