District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC)

 

DISTRICT ENGLISH LEARNERS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (DELAC) / 

COMITÉ CONSEJERO PARA APRENDICES DE INGLÉS DEL DISTRITO (DELAC)

 

A group of parents who represent school sites at the district level to give advice about English Learner programs and services. Each district with more than 50 English Learners (EL’s) must have a functioning DELAC. The DELAC shall advise the superintendent or designee on objectives and district programs for English Learners. They will review and comment on school district EL goals, written notifications and procedures. Each school site has the responsibility to send a representative and an alternate to attend the District English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC). The group meets regularly throughout the year to facilitate the coordination of effective parent involvement activities throughout the District, improve EL reclassification, and to serve as a two-way contact between District and sites.

 

Un grupo de padres que representan a las escuelas a nivel del distrito para brindar consejos sobre los programas y servicios para los aprendices de inglés. Cada distrito con más de 50 aprendices de inglés (EL) debe tener un DELAC en funcionamiento. El DELAC deberá asesorar al superintendente o su designado sobre los objetivos y programas del distrito para los aprendices de inglés. Ellos revisarán y comentarán sobre las metas de los aprendices de inglés del distrito escolar, notificaciones escritas y procedimientos. Cada escuela tiene la responsabilidad de enviar un representante y un suplente para asistir al Comité Consejero para Aprendices de Inglés del Distrito (DELAC). El grupo se reúne regularmente durante el año para facilitar la coordinación de actividades efectivas de participación de los padres en todo el Distrito, mejorar la reclasificación de aprendices de inglés y servir como un contacto bidireccional entre el Distrito y las escuelas.
