Adrienne-Konigar Macklin “The Guardian Angel for Pomona High School”

The Pomona High School Boys Basketball Program would like to take this time to recognize and honor Board Member, Adrienne Konigar-Macklin for all she has done for our program.

My name is Coach Eric Anderson, Head Boys Basketball Coach at Pomona High. I met Adrienne Konigar-Macklin at Mount San Antonio College during a summer league game, while she was watching her son play for Diamond Ranch High School. She noticed our team and saw some kids she felt needed some support and asked me what I needed for the program and how she could be of assistance. She proceeded by offering her support for the Pomona High School Boys Basketball Program. It began an 8 year relationship that has been ongoing.

Adrienne Konigar-Macklin has adopted Pomona High School as “her school”. She has made numerous references to this in her commencement addresses and she has been true to her word. She is truly our Guardian Angel.

Pomona High School Basketball Team has won the Miramonte League Championship eight years in a row and has made it to the CIF Southern Section 4A and 4AA playoffs in each of the eight years that she has supported our program. Pomona High Varsity Basketball Program also advanced to the CIF 2nd round playoffs in 6 of those years.

Adrienne Konigar-Macklin has been instrumental in our basketball program. She has donated funds to help with team uniforms and spirit packs. She has purchased training equipment for the program, and has donated funds that have allowed us to compete in competitive basketball tournaments; spring and summer league contests; and attend player development team camps. She has made appearances at our Ist and 2nd year Coach Anderson’s Youth Fundamental Basketball Camps during the summer months. She helped us organize our Parent Booster Club. She has been the keynote speaker at our end of the year Sports Banquet where she gave motivational and inspiration encouragement to our young student athletes.

Mrs. Konigar Macklin has sponsored the Pomona High School Cheerleading and Dance Squads which allowed them to attend summer cheerleading camps.

She has been involved and played an integral part in getting the football stadium and other Pomona High School facilities upgraded.

Adrienne is a women of few words but lots of action and true integrity. She is a strong supporter of Pomona Athletics. “Our success at Pomona High School would not have been what it is today without her support”.

We would like for the Pomona School District Community to join us in honoring Adrienne Konigar- Macklin, current PUSD Board Member and Former PUSD Board President for all she has done and continues to do for Pomona High School and the Varsity Boys’ Basketball Program She is truly “OUR GUARDIAN ANGEL”

Quotes and comments from Alumni Parents:

“When I was a parent of a student at Pomona High School, there were a few issues at the school that were not being addressed. When these concerns were brought to the attention of Mrs. Konigar- Macklin, she listened, did not hesitate and made sure that the issues did not go unaddressed. She made time out of her busy schedule to talk with students and get to know them. She supported them at sporting events and banquets. Her dedication to the Students, Staff and Parents of the Pomona Unified School District did not go unnoticed”

Thank you Mrs. Konigar- Macklin for being one of a kind we appreciate you!!

Words of Gratitude
“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them”
Adrienne Konigar Macklin truly lives up to this.
Thank You

This was my son’s first year at Pomona High School and I had many many concerns regarding the condition of the basketball gym along with the support the program was getting from the school. I was a former Alumni of Pomona High School and expected my son to have the same quality experience I had. I spoke with Mrs.Konigar-Macklin and she listened and assured me she would make sure these issues were addressed I trust and know the future athletes and students will benefit because she will make sure the job is complete.
